Inspired Drawing

I was inspired to do this drawing of my friend and think it came out pretty ok. It's the first time in a long time, where I've been focused on completing the piece rather than leaving it unfinished. I would put it down to take a break and kept being pulled back to do more to it. This one was a lot of fun. I used a cool board by r-tis-tix. I really love the tooth and feel of it. Anyway, enjoy.

See I told you...

A very special person surprised me with these. A bright spot of my day everytime I look at them.

Braving my desk

Editing pictures. Wow I lead a very solitary life it seems. I really do know people, I swear.

Back at the office.

And the reason I'm working on the futon. A work in progress and almost complete.

Panini's...need I say more?

Coffee break

One of the perks of working from home...the flexible schedule. Just finished picking up my friend from the airport and decided to stop for a chai @ Inman Perk.

Yes I'm working.

So this is proof. I actually am getting some work done. Me on my futon, filling out paperwork to submit the lab samples. And a little something to eat.

Fw: Napping is fundamental

Oh how I love naps in the middle of the day. At home I'm working and Pharoah goes from one basket to the other trying to get comfortable. This is pretty early though so he's rubbing in the fact that I can't go back to sleep just yet.

Not yet...one more hour.

My friend and I decided to do an experiment this week and take pictures at least once an hour. A noble experiment I say. Needless to say this is my first of the day. I wanted you to get the full effect of my waking up state. Lately it seems I greet the day more or less this way

More airport photos

Checking out the moblie blogging thing...

So this is the beautiful sunset in Omaha, Nebraska...What were you doing in Omaha you say? Not the expected place for funkyurbanchick to be? Well I was ending a long and cold working week. Glad to be going home and glad to be kissed goodbye by the sunset.

It's A Great Thanksgiving, Charlie Brown

Wow...so much has happened in the last few months. My move to my top secret artists lair is complete, I've been painting, welding, and shooting photos with my fellow artist in crime (see pics). Overall life is good, messy, silly, completely unpredictable, but good. I've been to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, San Francisco, Idaho, Arkansas, Mississippi, and now Iowa. More and more I'm contemplating and creating a life of art, this is truly a year of creation and starting over. My friend today looked back on a list he made a few months ago and was happy to see how many things that he's passionate about, he can cross off of the list of things he's accomplished or is now doing. Last year at this time, I was beginning to look towards the new year and was happy because I didn't have any new years resolutions. There was nothing that I wasn't passionate about that I wasn't in the midst of creating. This year looks completely different from last year, I'm no longer with my husband, I'm living in a beautiful loft in the city, and exploring life and love again. And I'm proud to admit once again, I'm working on all of the things that matter to me most, even a career that allows myself as a true expression. So once again I'll recommit to documenting my life on this page...the things I create...my photos...my paintings...my drawings...my art. More to come...I'm so thankful for my life at this moment...

Another Wednesday, Another Sketch

So I used another sketch group Wednesday to experiment on a larger scale. This one I guess is almost lifesize. Still trying to get down the shading and maybe one day I'll get down to actually getting the detail in the hands...This is hanging up now so I can look at it often to see where I can improve...

It's Been A Long Time Since I Left You...

Ok...so I'm back, I've been idle for awhile, dealing with the issues of life..a separation, pending divorce, and move into my top secret artists' lair in the city of ATL. I have been keeping busy though, sketching and now welding again. I haven't however been being public about it. Here's my latest sketch, done in a 3 hour session last week. I'm pretty happy with it so far, deciding how I want to finish it. I can tell I focused most of my attention on the face and upper body, not so much on the arms, hips, or chair...but overall I'm pretty pleased.
